- Digo -- Lutin/Goblins -- 17:56:17 05/14/98 EDT
- The Lutin, a type of Goblin, has been found throughout the world in many myths and legends. The Lutin Goblin may take many forms, usually that of a small animal, the color and type of animal denotes it's powers.
- Black cats are among the most powerful of lutins, followed by white cats, rabbits and other household animals. Common forms include: dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, mice or even a small snake.
- The Lutin may be good or bad, depending on how it's treated.
When treated well, a lutin may protect it's person, it's person's belongings, etc. and work for the general well-being of it's favorite person(S).
When treated badly, Lutins take great delight in causing chaos. This includes, but is not limmited to:sewing up the offender's clothes so he/she can't wear them, putting rocks in the person's shoes, salt in the sugarbowl, sugar in the salt shaker, dishes broken, furnature moved and upset, etc. and the person who treated the lutin badly's pet could also be found near-dead from running from the lutin,& or with burrs and knots and all sorts of things in the animal's fur.
- Lutins enjoy fun, mischief and many have a fondness for sugary foods.
- Besides the animal form (Ex: a cat), the Lutins also have a goblin form, which varries depending on the species of lutin they are.(Most have an ape-like body, or a skeletal body, claws, fangs and a long tail. Use your (GASP) immagination!)None of the forms, animal or otherwise, exceeds 5 feet in general.
- Because of their extreme lifespan (often living to be 100-150 years) and because of the extreme energy their bodies creat (used in morphing from form to form, and in some cases, for vanishing from sight for a few moments), they may be mistaken for immorals. The exceptionally bright aura may be a clue to the person in question being a lutin and not an immortal. They can NOT recieve a quickening, and they don't die if their heads get chopped off.
- Lutins may be harmed by a variety of things,
- Blood-this stuff can drive a lutin into a killing/feeding frenzy--especialy those whose animal form is most often a carnivoir.
- salt----causes mild to severe burns on the skin, a lot of pain, and tends to terrify many goblins who are young or of lesser powers.
- Holy Objects----these cause great fear in many goblins, and depending on the object, may cause severe burns that lead to scarring on the goblin.
- Holy Water----Very bad! Goblins, especially Lutins, cannot stand Holy water. It's like acid, and can burn them to the bone, and cause death if enough of it spills on them! Therefore, goblins stay well away from holy water if possible.
- Also, if a holy object is tied around a lutin or to a lutin; example--a priest ties his stole around a lutin's neck, or a saint's medal or cross is tied around a lutin's neck--the lutin will be under the power of the person who tied the object to it. Many lutins and goblins detest this, being willfull creatures, and will protestingly comply only because they must. However, it has been known to happen, that after a period of such captivity, the lutin will stay with it's master.
- Lutin behavior has rarely been observed, but it is suspected that they are highly instinctive, agressive and that many are canibalistic; therefore when dealing with a lutin, one should be cautious. Lutins react differently to different species, but more-or-less get along with some species better than others.
- Vampires-the more predatory/agressive/canibalistic lutins tend to get along fairly well with vampires. Vampires can drink lutin blood, but the effects of drinking lutin blood are as follows: blurred senses and vision for around 2-10 minutes, and the blood, although sweet-tasting, doesn't last long...Lutins cannot become vampires, and are immune to the effects of vampire blood.
- Weres(wolves,felids,etc,etc)-Lutins get along pretty well with these, although the occasional fights do break out. Lutin-were breedings generally result in a were-creature with high instincts and the ability to shift into multiple forms, although the life span of these half-breeds generally is only about the same as your average human.
- Angels-most lutins hate/fear angels, because angels can kill/maim/injure them fairly easily. Lutins generally stay far away from angels.
- Demons,F'angles,etc-Many lutins can tolerate these species fairly well, and generally get along great. However, Demons and Fallen angels do pose threat to Lutins, as they can fairly easily kill young lutins, and maim and injure the older ones, if provoked.
- Unicorns-Lutins (usually the herbivoir/ominvoir based ones) get along fairly well with unicorns, although it has been known in the past for lutins to gang up on a Unicorn to slaughter it for food (but that's a rare thing). Unicorns' horns and hooves often do horrid dammage to a lutin that can result in perminant scaring. (ouch)
- Regular People/humans-Lutins, in general, iether get along great with people or horridly. However, some species of Lutin tend to feed selectively on humans. Human-lutin breedings often result in a misborn creature that usually dies soon after birth, or in a human who has some lutin powers-ie;flight, mesmorising song, long life span, good night vision, etc.
- Immortals-lutins get along fairly well with immortals, due to the fact that most immortals live long, and that they can usually sense eachother. However, some immorals have been known to hunt lutins, and to slay them for 'practice'.
- Lutins-Lutins get along TERRIFIC with their own kind. They hold loud parties at night, and love to sing crazy songs together and to dance. They are great party animals. Lutins have strong social bonds within their own home groups, and are very loyal, caring and protective of their own kind. However, several groups of Lutins tend to get into fights--the 'cat' and 'snake' lutins(those with a natural animal form of a cat or snake) have been arguing over wich has more power for centuries, and most of these childish fights-although brutal and bloody, do not end up in death, for injuries to a lutin by a lutin tend to heal quite fast.
- Young Lutins (oh what the heck, I'll just put this here
Young lutins are raised by their parents, and tend to be over agressive and instinctive, and demanding, much like a young raptor(bird of prey). They are very immature, and consider anything and everything iether food, a toy or both. Swift and painful punishment from the adults tends to keep the young, willful lutins in line. Most young lutins are carnivoirs and hunters, and prefer to stalk and kill their own food from a young age (although many early attempts at hunting are unsuccessful). They are playful, sensative, agressive and much more like a wild animal than a human at this age. Blood, meat and sugary foods can be used to coax young lutins into fairly good behavior at times, due to the fact that such 'edibles' are among the favorites of the young lutins.
